"Now would you look at that! Our first exotic creature," He announced as they arrived at the area, which seemed good for a first settlement. If they could deforest the area and set up farms, the river would be excellent for that.
Marcellus muttered a quick prayer to Xylus before continuing. "A fine location, is it not?" He said, turning to the other militia members.

Rey nods. “Aye it is. We should watch out for those things though. Try not to attack them unless absolutely necessary. They may be harmless. “

The giant animals seemed to be nonviolent, although they most likely hadn't noticed the presence of the three Antians yet.
Marcellus radioed Red and told him of the news, also sending pictures through his datapad as proof of the encounter. Marcellus spoke to nobody in particular as he took the pictures. "Hm... Marvelous creatures, yes. We should send one back home for the upcoming Xeno museum in Antia, once we have the means."

Rey raises an eyebrow. “Only if you leave it alive. There’s no point in killing it. “

"Of course, nobody wants to see a dead animal in a museum, do they?" He replied, finished with his little investigation. He went back onto his motorbike, certainly in agreement with his first location as the capitol location.
"We must go off to the next location, by the coast. Before it is too dark," he said, waiting for the two others to ready up.

Rey grins, practically baring her teeth as she straddles her motorbike. “Scared of the dark are you?”

Marcellus glares at Rey, clearly unpleased. "Watch your mouth, new blood. You are speaking to a Holmstet, and I will not tolerate foolish remarks from some noble upstart." Even if the colonial militia had five members, he clearly took the job as serious as if he was in the actual Antian military.
"We must finish before dark, else we'll be stuck in an unknown planet's wilderness. Something no Xylus-fearing Antian would look forward to," he declared, heading off to the next location.

She smirks. “Who now? I’ve never heard of that family. Unless that’s the one with all the sons. Then I’ve met your brothers. Apparently my parents did not think you’d make a good suitor. “ She winks, before gunning her motorbike in the direction of the next stop.

"If your family believes direct descendants of Stennis Holmstet to be unworthy, then they're even more dull than I originally thought," he retorted, watching the landscape as they went on to their next direction.
"Be careful with who you fool with, /Lady/ Rey. This may not be the Antian Empire proper, but I will not forget this disrespect. Not one bit." Marcellus had the temperament of the late Stennis Holmstet too, it seemed.

“Oh I don’t expect you too. It would be quite boring if you did. And thank the gods this isn’t the Empire just yet. I’m much more able to be myself. “

"This may not officially be the Empire, but our gracious Empress is supporting this little colony, and we must follow Antian law just the same. Remember that, before you go off talking about /gods/ or other nonsense. Xylus is the only God recognized by Antians," he said, as the forest thinned around them as they approached the coast.
"Although luckily for you, the Imperial Inquisition is not present here."

She laughs. “/Lucky/? I have friends in the Inquisition. My brother was either about to join or already had, I can’t remember which, before he disappeared. “

Marcellus sighed to himself. Since birth, all proper noble conduct had been hammered into him, but in his mind, it seemed for these newer nobles, they had none of the discipline and respect for the proper ways which he was accustomed to.
"The Inquisition is serious business. Every proper noble fears them almost as much as they fear the might of Xylus. No connections your family could possibly have would protect you, that's for certain."

She shrugs. “Whatever. Point being, they’re not here. So let’s get this scouting thing over with and go back to the base. “

"Hmph, very well," he replied, off to the next location.
As they traversed closer to the coast, other new creatures appeared to them. The same mammoth-like creatures from before were visible with giant humanoid-looking men, taller than the beasts with crude clothing and weapons. They were hard to make out because of the distance, but Marcellus stopped to take pictures with his datapad just the same. From what it looked like, a few giants were herding a group of the mammoths to a location away from the coast.
Seeming to completely forget the past incident, he looked at the new beings with reverence. "How incredible! These are /just/ like the "Earth-born" from the tales, but they're here in the flesh!"
